18th-Century and Romantic Literature, Philosophy, Form, Modernity, Explanation, with residual interests in the Arab World

I will be joining the University of Richmond in the fall of 2017 as an Assistant Professor of English, and in the past year have been a Visiting Scholar in the center for Philosophy, Arts, and Literature (PAL) at Duke University. I research and write on the intersections of literature, philosophy, and science in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and I teach literature across literary periods and genres.

Originally from New Jersey with roots in Lebanon, I received my Ph.D. in English from Duke in 2016 and my B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago in 2009. You can read abstracts of my papers and presentations at http://www.duke.academia.edu/ThomasManganaro, and can follow me on Twitter at @thomasmanganaro.
